Myth, Meaning and Misogyny in The Five Megillot: The Book of Esther

The Five scrolls we read at Festivals have little in common with each other, - except for their brevity. Two were authored by women, two objectify women, and the fifth presents a challenge to gender stereotype. We will measure these familiar texts against the tropes of the time and see how far they enhance and undermine our biblical assumptions.

This will be a text-study course, led by our Executive Director, Rabbi Sybil Sheridan

In our final week, we will be looking at the Book of Esther.

This course is free to attend, but we would welcome any donations via our website. (Suggested donation: £5 per session).

To book your place at any of the sessions, follow the links below.
